I’ve worked for Radley in the past shooting models but this was my first still life shoot for the company, via their agency Liquid, and this Christmas online and look book campaign was shot over two days. Still not seen the final brochure but this image is from the Radley homepage.
At the start of the summer I shot a series of still life meets lifestyle photographs for Onitsuka Tiger whilst the print section in my portfolio features more from past Tiger shoots.
I’ve been travelling with orchestras again as I went to Spain with the RLPO for a whirlwind 24 hours in Alicante where I shot rehearsals, backstage warm ups and the concert itself before heading back to the UK and leaving the band to get on with the rest of the tour.
In September, I was commissioned to photograph the Darbar Festival, at the Southbank Centre in London. Darbar is the biggest classical Indian music festival to be held outside of India and I was there to document the action both on and offstage across four long days.
This is The Big House featuring Paul Molloy and Candie Payne and as well as this portrait session, we’ve also just shot a video together which features both new and old footage as it also includes some Super 8 footage shot on a family holiday to California in the 70′s by Dave McNulty (me Dad!). I’ve been shooting more and more classical music portraits and performance based work over the last few months and this is Ilyich Rivas, a 19 year old Venezuelan born conductor, who I shot in Liverpool for his agents IMG, whilst performing with The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. I’ve also got shot two forthcoming record covers for EMI Classics and I’m doing another artwork shoot today with The Phil whilst, at the end of the month, I’ll be the official photographer on the biggest Indian classical music festival outside of India and will post some photographs up from that early in October! I was recently commissioned to produce photography and video for a new locally sourced food initiative called Fresh & Local which sees the local restaurant and food and drink festival scenes promoted due to their support for local producers and this has seen me shooting portraits and making short films about producers and their buyers. One minute I’m filming sheep up at Knowsley Hall or Ice Cream producers out in Daresbury and the next I’m shooting chef portraits and food across some of the best restaurants in the region. It’s an ongoing project and I’ll be Tweeting more information when the films go online but you can also read up more about it on SB Studio’s site as they did the branding and brochure design for the project.
I’ve shot a couple of the Cultural Olympiad events here in Liverpool but I was also recently commissioned to shoot one of the opening events of the London Festival and this event was The Voyage which was held in Birmingham over 4 nights. Sadly, the first night got called off due to the weather so I stayed down and shot the event on the Friday and the performance which was created by Motionhouse and Legs on The Wall was one of the best things I’ve ever seen and it was all set on a purpose built ship in front of the Town Hall. Amazing!
Joe Anderson is the first elected Mayor of Liverpool and I was commissioned to shoot his campaign photography which included taking a series of non posed portraits and documenting Joe on the campaign trail over a few days. The photographs were used in campaign material, and during the launch, and the brief was very reportage, shot in colour and converted into black and white.
I’ve been shooting lots of classical stuff this year including an album cover or two, loads and loads of performances and a few conductor portraits including this photograph of Vasily Petrenko which was shot for the new season’s campaign at the Liverpool Philharmonic.
